Hirafu Matsuri - August 19th, 2017
The beautiful Niseko summer culminates next week with the Hirafu Matsuri — one of the most eagerly anticipated events of 2017 — offering a wide array of live events, music, food stalls, and competitions!
This year’s food marché consists of over 35+ local eateries and culinary vendors, offering a taste of Niseko lavished with fresh, in-season local produce — and the traditional Hirafu marquee will be raised to ensure worry-free fun times are had by all, come rain or shine.
Sun Sports Kutchan is located directly opposite AYA Niseko, providing a wonderful venue for both locals and tourists to mingle under the vast Hokkaido sky. The kids area will keep your little ones busy while adults can sit back and enjoy the friendly festival atmosphere and take in inspiring views of Mt. Yotei.
Traditional Japanese bon dance and Mochi-nage (rice cake throwing) with some big prizes will continue to entertain the crowds into the night, and the festival finale will showcase a stirring taiko drumming performance against a spectacular backdrop of fireworks on the starry sky.
