Kiyoe Gallery Niseko Presents - Yoko Arano Personal Exhibition
Honing her craft in an artistic career that has spanned over 60 years - including frequent trips to China and a myriad of exhibitions all over Japan - Master Calligrapher Yoko Arano has finally come to AYA Niseko.
To mark the opening of her fascinating Calligraphy Exhibition, the local legend treated visitors at AYA Niseko to a live calligraphy performance.
After the opening calligraphy, the venue moved to Kiyoe Gallery on the 2nd floor where gallery guests were treated to an audience with the Sensei herself, with delicious Japanese sweets served throughout by local Kutchan patisserie, Baigetsu.
The following week, guests and visitors were given the opportunity to learn the art of calligraphy from local legend Arano-sensei in a hands-on lesson. As a result of her enthusiastic and supportive teaching, every student left with a deeper understanding of the meaning behind the artform, and how to approach creating these emotive strokes.
The art work of Yoko Arano will be exhibited at Kiyoe Gallery Niseko (AYA Niseko 2F) until the 17th of July.
