Niseko Spring Skiing/Snowboarding 2021
Spring skiing or snowboarding in Niseko is the perfect opportunity for beginners to try out the slopes in the sun!
As another winter in Niseko draws to a close it is truly a struggle to believe that a full year has passed since COVID-19 first arrived in Japan.
This season has brought heavy snow and less crowds which probably sound like the envy of everyone abroad however that international bustle and charm was missed this winter and left us feeling, dare we say, lonely!
Streets were eerily quiet - all you could hear was the crunching of snow underfoot, and the popular restaurants could take a walk-in table for dinner which was previously unheard of!
Despite the strange conditions of the 2020/2021 winter, we have emerged on the other side and spring is beginning already in Niseko. The snowfall has slowed, skies are sunnier, days are getting longer, and there is still time for a ski trip before all the snow melts away.
The huge season of powder means that there will be snow remaining on the slopes for weeks to come so long as the temperatures are staying low. Spring conditions are optimal for beginner skiers and snowboarders – smooth groomed pistes, great visibility, and not much wind.
December through mid-February is usually grey and cloudy so March and early April is the best time for getting your photos for social media!
The Grand Hirafu ski lifts are still in operation for weeks longer, with lift passes at a discounted price for the spring skiing season from March 22nd**
